Relaxing in the Common Spaces at West Hill House B&B
Relax In Tranquil Outdoor Spaces
The gardens at the B&B put on a three-season display. We were recognized as a Green Hotel by the Vermont Environmental & Regulatory Assistance Program in 2008. The B&B sits on nine peaceful acres—with mountain views, meadows, ponds, gardens and woods—a setting for relaxation and seclusion.
Put your feet up on our front porch, the canopied back deck or the airy gazebo. Read a book or watch the “critter shows” as birds, chipmunks, deer, and an occasional moose entertain you. Read more about our extensive Gardens.
The Living Room
At the heart of the main floor is the spacious Living Room. The beautiful stone-faced wood-burning fireplace is the focal point of the main seating area. Nearby is the bar where we offer wine by the bottle as well as by the glass and a selection of Vermont beers. We also have champagnes, both French and domestic. In addition we have our unique Quaich Single Malt Scotch bar.
The game cupboard offers pastimes for all tastes, our DVD collection awaits your selection for movie watching in your room, and the Gift Shop has something for everyone from a Moose with a West Hill House B&B waistcoat, to our beautiful Deneen Pottery mugs, and of course Maple Syrup!
The Library
You can browse through our roughly 1,000 title library with an eclectic selection of fiction, non-fiction and reference books assembled by both Peter & Susan and prior innkeepers. The Library is where you will find our pool table, which offers an evening of camaraderie for many of our guests, whether they have ever played before or not!
Another wood-burning fireplace does double duty in the skiing season as a drying and warming area for clothes and boots ensuring everything is toasty for the next morning. A comfortable sofa is a popular spot for curling up with a book or assembling a jigsaw puzzle in front of the fire.
The Sun Room
With glass on three sides plus a couple of skylights this room is an aptly named bright space for relaxing, whatever the weather outside. Or you can entertain yourself and other guests by playing a recital on the pump organ that used to grace a church in eastern Ontario, or enjoy a sports event on the large built-in HD TV.
During the warmer months you use the door on the south side to exit out to the canopied Garden Terrace, offering comfortable chairs where you can cool off with a drink, read a book, or simply nod off for a snooze!
