How to Make the Most of Romantic Getaways in Vermont

Vermont is a delightful four-season vacation destination, making it an ideal choice for romantic getaways in Vermont. With its stunning landscapes and endless activities, this region captures the heart and imagination of all who visit. The charm of rural Vermont, with its picturesque wooded hills, breathtaking mountain vistas, charming towns, and iconic covered bridges, feels like stepping into a timeless romantic story.

Whether you and your partner are adventure seekers eager to explore the great outdoors in the snow, or you prefer a more leisurely experience by the fire at our cozy B&B, we have some lovely ideas for your itinerary.

  1. Go skiing at nearby Mad River Glen or Sugarbush Resort during the winter. If you’re heading to the nearby Sugarbush, we offer a shuttle to get you to and from, as well as a lighter “skier’s breakfast” to get you going in the morning. Both ski resorts are well-known in New England for thrilling runs and apres ski options for couples.
  2. There are also plenty of fantastic cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails in the area, including at the golf course adjacent to our property, along with a whole host of other fun winter activities to enjoy while here. Olés Cross-County and Blueberry Lake cross-country are two fantastic locations for this gentle and rewarding winter sport.
  3. There’s a local company we always recommend, ClearWater Sports, that offers guided snowshoe tours. A unique and unforgettable option is the Full Moon Head Lamp tours, where you explore after dark under a bright moon and a sky full of stars. Such a lovely addition to any of your romantic getaways in Vermont!
  4. One of the best things to do in the Mad River Valley is head out on a tour of the Vermont covered bridges. We’ve put together a wonderful covered bridges & culinary tour, which takes you to eight of the famed Vermont covered bridges, all while sampling some of Vermont’s culinary prowess along the way. These iconic structures are even more picturesque in the wintertime.
  5. A horse ride can be romantic at any time of year. Come to Vermont Icelandic Horse Farm for a tour through the meadows, forests, and mountains of the Mad River Valley. You won’t be disappointed!
  6. Do the kind of shopping you can’t do anywhere else! Any list of things to do in Vermont should include the “Almost World Famous” Warren Store for gifts, and the 5th Quarter Butcher + Provisions, where you can buy all sorts of Vermont-made edible goodies like cheeses, chocolates, syrups, coffee, beer, and wine.
  7. If you’re joining in early spring, head out on the Vermont Cheese Trail to explore local dairy and creameries.
  8. Take a winter hike into the stunning Green Mountains! We’d be happy to recommend a trail or two for you that are easily accessible in the winter months. Guests often strap on their snowshoes and explore our on-site nine acres, which connect to the Sugarbush golf course.
