The Most Scenic Vermont Motorcycle Tour: Experience Route 100

If you’re looking for a Vermont motorcycle tour that’ll take you through lots of iconic scenery, look no further than Route 100. Not only is it one of the most popular Vermont cycling roads, it runs right through the heart of the state!

Vermont summers are the perfect motivation for getting out into the great outdoors. One popular way to get out and soak up a lot of our gorgeous scenery is on two wheels. There may be no better way to enjoy our state’s twisting mountain roads and beautiful views.

When it comes to scenic Vermont motorcycle rides, very few can beat Route 100. Route 100 travels 130 miles from the Massachusetts border, through the heart of the Green Mountains, up almost to Newport on Lake Memphremagog. The Route 100 Byway is such a popular route, it’s even been featured in the New York Times!

Route 100 is Vermont’s longest state highway, acting like a north-south axis. The byway cuts right through central Vermont, offering access to several notch roads and picturesque towns and villages. Along the way you’ll see numerous recreational and cultural opportunities, including many of Vermont’s top ski resorts, golf courses, and beautiful lakes for fishing or swimming.

You can be excused for thinking a popular road like this would be heavily trafficked. While Route 100 can become more busy during the leaf-peeping or skiing months, “busy” is a relative term. You’re quite unlikely to see many semi-trucks or lines of traffic. At worst, maybe there will be some construction slow downs. Even when there is traffic, Route 100 retains it’s quaint, rural feel.  Mostly you’ll be enjoying your view!
