Give Winter a Hug
hug; embrace; receive willingly; adopt
A Vermont winter is enchanting. With the snow falling and weather chilly, it’s time to love this season of year and give winter a hug, an embrace, and to hold close the memory of a wonderful season. West Hill House B&B is a ‘green hotel’ located in the Mad River Valley in the heart of the Green Mountains of Vermont, offers guests authentic Vermont hospitality and the perfect place to start embracing winter.
The B&B History
Originally a small, family home and working farm, the property was owned by generations of the Allen family up to 1939. Several owners later, in the 1960’s, it became a B&B and today it is a comfortable and inviting 9 room bed and breakfast. Located in the heart of the Mad River Valley, the B&B is close to mountains, shops, dining, and spots for quiet relaxation.
Your Room
Arriving at West Hill House B&B you will be greeted by owners Peter and Susan who have been the owner/innkeepers since 2006. Your en suite room of choice will welcome you with the lights on and the gas fireplace or “wood” stove radiating warmth throughout the room. Each room is individually decorated, it is more than just a place for you to lay your head, it is a haven of comfort and relaxation.
Keeping you Fueled
Wake up to the smell of fresh, hot coffee. It’s hard to give winter a hug without a delicious home made breakfast featuring locally sourced ingredients, and your dietary restrictions are being taken into account. During the day, special treats are always available under the cloche on the dining room table. Tigger, the friendly B&B tabby cat loves food hence the cloche, so keep an eye on your treats!
For evening dining at area restaurants you will find everything from casual to fine dining with many of the creative chefs having curated tasty menus featuring local produce, drink and meat.
A Winter Paradise
As you awake, the hustle and bustle of your every-day-life is forgotten as you awake to the soft morning light filtering through the windows and shines on the snow laden trees right outside your window. What a beautiful sight! It’s so quiet you think you can hear the snowflakes falling! The rest of the day is open to multiple opportunities to give winter a hug.
Outdoor enthusiasts take note
Whether novice or advanced, the Mad River Valley offers a plethora of opportunities to embrace the season and give winter a hug – they are all within minutes of the B&B.

It is a skiers only mountain providing well marked green, blue and black trails as well as some of the most challenging skiing in New England.
