When you picture a Vermont vacation, I’m sure you picture gorgeous mountain views, fun hiking and walking trails, small country shops, and delicious homemade maple treats. If not, we recommend you add those things to the list because it’s some of the best that Vermont has to offer. Let’s focus on hiking and walking trails, something Vermont and specifically the Mad River Valley has tons of.
New Mad River Trail Head Kiosks
Recently, the Mad River Valley invested in brand new Trail Head Kiosks to provide hikers and walkers with trail routes and other information to help you select the right trail. When you are on vacation, you know there’s nothing worse than thinking you’ve picked a nice simple trail and suddenly you’re an hour in and you have run out of energy and patience.
There are over 50 Trail Head Kiosks being installed in the area this summer to provide information on what to expect on each route from the type of use to the difficulty level. We had the opportunity to join the recent Community Walk and Trailhead Tour that was held during National Trail Weekend. The Mad River Valley continues to demonstrate dedication and investment in highlighting our phenomenal walking and hiking options.
What Makes Mad River Hiking Unique?
We’re big fans of Vermont and specifically the Mad River Valley. Every time a new guest comes to our inn, their enthusiasm and excitement for discovering the beauty of the area renews our enthusiasm. Seeing Vermont through their eyes is one of the best parts of owning a B&B. That’s one of the reasons we love to recommend the walking and hiking trails. There is simply something magical about the mountains and trees of Vermont.
The Mad River Valley has a host of unique trails that range in length and difficulty. Some are perfect for a short stroll, some are more suitable for longer outings, and some take a more extreme level of fitness and dedication. Having so many options for each hiker makes it a truly valuable area. Plus, if hiking is a big hobby of yours, there are new trails for you to explore and be challenged by on each day of your trip. We have detailed maps printed on waterproof paper available at the B&B. You can get a preview of some of the trails by opening this map.
We could never express how completely this region embraces the beauty of Vermont and the experiences that can be found on these trails. We hope that you’ll join us soon at West Hill House B&B to enjoy a sumptuous breakfast in the morning, an amazing Vermont adventure during the day, and return to play games in the common areas each evening after dining at one of our area’s great restaurants.
